Wisdom Teeth Management

Wisdom teeth usually appear between the ages of 17 and 24. Wisdom Teeth may or may not cause us any problems. If the growth of wisdom teeth is normal, then there will be no need for extraction. But, if the wisdom teeth grow sideways and become impacted, they may need to be removed.

In most cases, the third molars or wisdom teeth fail to erupt properly because there is simply not enough room in the jaw for the teeth.

Some of the problems associated with impacted wisdom teeth include:

• Bacteria and plaque build-up
• Cyst development (a fluid- filled sac)
• Tumour development
• Infection
• Jaw and Gum Disease
• Decay of adjacent teeth

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, please make an appointment as soon as possible:

• Intense pain and soreness in the mouth
• possibly radiating to the ear and/or throat
• Infection in the mouth
• Facial swelling
• Swelling of the gum line in the back of the mouth
